Implementing Automatic Posts to Social Networks

Socializer enables you to setup automatic posting to social networks when you create a page using composer. Here's how to go about it.

Page Promotion Settings

Page promotion settings can be found at {yoursite.com}/index.php/dashboard/composer/social_post/

Twitter

Authorizing Posts to Twitter

  1. Make sure you are logged into the Twitter account that you want to automatically post to
  2. Tick the box for 'Allow posting to Twitter'
  3. Click the 'Authorize with Twitter' button in the yellow field
  4. On the Twitter authorization page, click the 'Authorize App' button
  5. You should be returned to your site with a blue field replacing the yellow one

Automatically Promoting your Page on Twitter

This functionality automatically tweets a link to the new page you've just created.

  1. Go through the 'Authorizing Posts to Twitter' section above
  2. Tick the 'Post to Twitter when a new Composer page is added' box
  3. Type in the text that will be shown before each page type, such as 'Check it out'
  4. Tick the box for 'Add hashtags' if you would like Socializer to use the page's 'tags' attribute to create hashtags with the tweet

Allow Editors to Promote Pages on Twitter

This functionality lets 'editors' (people with edit access on pages) to send tweets for the page they are on using the Twitter account you've setup.

  1. Go through the 'Authorizing Posts to Twitter' section above
  2. Tick the 'Allow editors to promote pages via Twitter' box
  3. Type in the default intro text. The editor has the opportunity to change this before they promote the page.
  4. Tick one or both of the 'by default' boxes to configure the functionality you want to use

Allow Authors to Automatically Promote Pages that they create to Twitter

This functionality lets authors tweet to their own account when they create a page via Twitter.

  1. Setup profiles on your concrete5 site. You can find directions for setting up profiles on the concrete5 website.
  2. Go through the 'Authorizing Posts to Twitter' section above
  3. Tick the 'Allow authors to post to a Twitter feed' box
  4. Follow the steps found at Implementing Automatic Posts for Authors.

Facebook

Authorizing Posts to Facebook

  1. Tick the box for 'Allow posting to Facebook'
  2. Enter your App ID and secret in the corresponding text fields
  3. Click the 'Update Social Network Settings' button at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click the 'Authorize with Facebook' button in the yellow field
  5. In Facebook, click the confirm button(s) to allow your site to post to your timelines.
  6. You should be returned to your site with a blue field replacing the yellow one
  7. Choose the timeline you'd like to automatically post to. Listed here is your personal timeline as well as the Pages you admin.
  8. Click the 'Update Social Network Settings' button at the bottom of the page.
